The city we would like to explore with you is Jerome, Arizona. Jerome was once a booming town in the 1920’s with more than 10,000 people living there. Mining is what kept the town alive and booming for several years, until the mines closed in the 1950’s. Today, the population is a little over 400. Efforts to save the town have been successful by making it a tourist attraction. The town was even featured on the Food Network.

The town has been turned into a trendy and chic place to visit. You can visit the historical district, haunted hotels or take a haunted tour, mine museums, or one of the many wineries. One popular winery is Club 433, where they make their own wine, have tasting rooms and even a wine club. If you’re not that into wine, they also offer bottled micro-brews. Want to try another hip winery, then a visit to Caduceus Cellars Tasting Room is a must. This husband and wife team makes Italian and Spanish varieties of wines and produces almost 5,000 cases a year! There are many more wineries to visit in Jerome, these are just a few.
